I probably think about Loki’s Wager on a weekly basis. It could be too many Thor comics. But even now, there’s a healthy debate stirring up again about Progressive Enhancement needing a re-brand. Ye olde “Web Apps” vs. “Web Sites” debate. Can/should we draw a line? Yes, but no.

One may overcome the fallacy either by establishing a reasonable, working definition of the term in issue, or by showing that the other party is being unreasonable and avoiding the argument.

Are Web Apps also Web Sites? Yes. Are Web Sites also Web Apps? Sometimes maybe. And that’s okay. It’s easy to get hung up on the definitions, but it’s not really productive. That’s actually one of the reasons I quit Computer Science in college, the pedantry in my department was excruciating.
