As part of my weight loss journey I’ve started taking more vitamins and one guilty pleasure is I buy them all as gummies. The gummy vitamins, while possessing myriad mystical benefits, have an add-on effect of being a habitual substitution for buying candy from the gas station.

  • Magnesium - Helps with sleep and stress reduction
  • L-Theanine - An amino acid that takes the jitters out of caffeine and reduces stress
  • Ashwagandha - An African root powder that reduces stress
  • Vitamin C - To help with a skin condition

Are all those stress reduction vitamins producing extreme levels of chill? I don’t spend my days in a Buddha-like zen state, but my resting and active heart rate has gone down ~15 bpm. A lot of my recent weight loss seems to be from the stress reduction alone. But who knows, scientists probably.

Anyways, I’m not a doctor or a scientist. Don’t take advice from me. This was less a post about vitamins and weight loss and more a post about how I eat candy every day but pretend it’s healthy.
